It was Ansell Adams that once said that you take the best photos after a storm ... well our photography field trip to the Roaches, shooting medium and large format cameras gave us that precise opportunity.

Introducing Kate x

A close friend and colleague had a miracle baby 4 months ago.


She is truly a beautiful little thing, very lively and discovering all about herself all the time, her feet, her tongue and she has the most beautiful smile.

Using natural limited light, to take pictures of her was definitely a challenge!

Roaming the Roaches

Walking through the Roaches was like moving through some sort of Jurassic Park scene surrounded by the most amazing & gorgeous scenery ... still working on my landscapes though !!

Zap Zap Zap

A few months ago I was very lucky to be asked to take photos of my Sons friends band 'Zap Zap Zap' whilst they played at a gig in Poynton.  

A local band from Tytherington, they are getting more and more noticed and I'm really impressed with their latest track - they music is indie/electronic in genre.  Attached below is a link to their latest track - do have a listen and download their EP !!

Practice Makes Perfect !

So after our challenges yesterday, my model and I set off for Quarry Bank Mill to try more androgynous poses, in a more masculine environment in preparation for my location fashion photography photoshoot with a twist of freud!  Although we didn't venture into the Mill itself, we did make use of the fact that the gardens were closed, and after asking special permission we were allowed into these gardens to do some shots, without any other people around - which was a dream  .... just always remember to carry your college pass around & don't be afraid too ask !!

The light was completely the opposite to yesterday too - it was too bright !!!  I also changed lenses too which helped with some composition shots. 

Hair & Make-Up Practice

Today, I took one of my models Cat to practice the hair and make-up for my upcoming location fashion Photography Shoot.  It was a cold evening, and we braved the elements to take some pictures too, this was quite challenging due to the low light !  However, after taking them we both came into the warmth and over hot chocolate we reviewed the photos and were able to discuss different alternative poses, hopefully we will try again tomorrow !

Published ... At Last !

A few months ago I entered the Great British Life Photography competition, through the Cheshire Life magazine.  I then found out that one of my photos, was 1 of 10 that had been selected to represent Cheshire in the National Competition, and will be published in the Cheshire Life Magazine.  Well it now has been published on page 46 of the January 2011 edition.  I was sooo proud when I saw my photo there on that page, even though it has never been one of my favourites ... but something inside me made me enter it ... and I am sooo glad that I did !!!

I believe that the National overall winner will be announced next week, I don't hold out much hope for that £5000 prize, but am proud to have made it into the top 10 of Cheshire !
